I get to know of this place from the famous Indonesian food blogger, Nex Carlos.
The one visited by Nex Carlos is operated by Ah Leng's daughter, whereas Ah Leng himself still sells Char Koay Teow at his shop in Air Hitam.
Ah Leng's Char Koay Teow is famous for the large peeled prawns.
I tried the Koay Teow once and am impressed by the combination of spiciness, wok-hei, umami ness of the large prawns.
The above is the special version, which is RM14 which includes servings of mantis shrimp. I find the mantis shrimp doesn't add much to the taste of the char koay teow.
Conclusion: The char koay teow is above average in taste. The combination of the large prawn adds to the taste of the char koay teow. The price is above average in Penang but tasting it is worth the money.
Cheers...
